Located in the Kasbah area in Marrakesh’s Medina, the Riad Ksiba gives you very easy access to the sights of Marrakesh. The riad is located 5 minutes away from the Djemaa El Fna square and all the monuments. Renovated in the pure moroccan tradition, the Riad Ksiba is a quiet oasis amidst the colour, vibrancy and rush of this magnificent city. The architecture is typical riad style: a collocation of rooms and balconies facing inward on to a central courtyard. The courtyard itself is beautifully inlaid with mosaic tiles and orange trees growing as high as the second floor, with the pool in the centre. In the courtyard you will also find couches and daybeds, places to relax on and take a Moroccan style mint tea in the evening. Lattice windows protect the rooms privacy and lanterns light the cosy nooks and stairs of the building at night. The floor is cushioned with patterned carpets and a warm palate of gold, orange and yellow has been used to invoke a warm and mysterious ambiance.
The six rooms and suites of the Riad Ksiba are individually decorated, yet all united in the fact that they are decked with the utmost style and quality. white walls and chocolate brown furniture are jazzed up by Arabic complements like patterned heavy carpets, brass tray tables and leather poof stools in red and orange tones. On the rooftop terrace, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Atlas Mountains and the Medina while enjoying typical Moroccan cuisine.
An ancient, cedar-wood door leads from the thoroughfares outside to the tranquillity and calm of a traditional Arab courtyard. Here, the colonnaded elegance of walls and verandas forms a perfect backdrop to the citrus and banana trees that thrive in this picturesque ambience. And the scented and colourful shrubs and climbers that proliferate provide an exquisite contrast to the formal lines of an inviting splash-pool at its centre.
To one side is a calm and restful bhou (open sitting room) for anyone seeking shade or a more informal dinner setting. On the remaining three sides are two double bedrooms and a twin, all with their own bathrooms.
On the first floor is a large and airy salon d'hiver with a traditional, open fireplace where a log fire makes for warm, romantic evenings. Adjoining are three larger double bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms, and all tastefully decorated in a traditional Moroccan style with a modern twist; one has its own small, private loggia.
Stairs lead to a large terrace where superb views of the mountains and medina can be admired over breakfast before the heat of the day.
There are sun beds for those who want to relax in the sun and a tented area provides a perfect spot for candlelit dinners or cool drinks and lazy afternoons in the shade.
Location:
The position of Riad Ksiba in the heart of the Kasbah provides magnificent views over the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas mountains (4165 metres). It is only a short walk from the sixteenth-century Saadian tombs, the Royal Palace and the bustling streets and alleyways of the medina. Riad Ksiba, however, is in a quiet location, yet has easy access - by car or taxi - to the 'new' town, the airport and elsewhere.
